Edible Love Notes

Surprise your loved ones with edible love notes all year long. Cut premade pie dough into diamonds, fill with jelly, jam or pie filling, fold into envelopes, sprinkle with sugar and bake.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 premade pie dough crusts
  • strawberry or cherry jam or jelly, or pie filling
  • 1 egg
  • sugar for sprinkling on the tops

Instructions
 

  • Heat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Crack egg into a bowl and beat.
  • Lightly flour your cutting surface and lay out one pie dough round. 
  • Cut diamond shapes. Cut tiny hearts for each diamond. 
  • Place about a teaspoon of jam in the center of each diamond.
  • Fold up the two side corners of the envelope and then fold the bottom into the center. Brush the dough with egg wash. Place the heart on top of the corners you folded in. Brush the heart with egg wash.
  • Place on baking sheet. Sprinkle the envelope with sugar.
  • Roll out remaining dough and repeat. Use one or two dough rounds depending on the number of envelopes you want.
  • Bake at 375° for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
